eSata card and drives in G5?
Anyone using newer eSata external drives with an eSata host card in a Qaud G5 with Pro Tools? I have Glyph firewire drives with FW 400, FW 800, USB 2, and Sata connections on it. Since Sata is much faster than FW 800, I was curious if it would work with Pro Tools 7.
thanks

Re: eSata card and drives in G5?
Don't know about PCI-E boards, but I'm using a Firmtek four channel PCI eSATA card in a dual 2.5 Ghz G5, and it works spectacularly well. No problems, and it was extremely easy to install. The Firmtek drive enclosure is beautifully made, too. All in all, this was one of the best purchases I've made in recent history.
At the moment, it looks like Firmtek only has a two port PCI Express card. I doubt you'd have problems with it. Lee Blaske |
