Additional Hard Drive: Internal or External
I have a Dual 2.0 G5 and I've been told I should have an additional hard drive for recording. Some say I should get additional internal hard drive and some say external. Advice?
Also, what exactly to I put on which hard drive? I'm running Pro Tools 6.9 on an 002R. I'm fairly new to computer recording so I don't know what hard drive I should use for what. Thanks |

Re: Additional Hard Drive: Internal or External
I would suggest an internal drive. That's what I've used since the 001 on my old G4.
1. They don't require an additional a/c outlet for power. 2. Since they're inside the Mac, they are usually quieter since there are no additional fans involved. 3. They're cheaper than an external drive. I do use an external drive (my 3rd drive) for backup and archiving, but I leave it powered off most of the time. The only time an external drive would be advantageous would be if you need to take your PT sessions to another studio for mixdown or additional work. External drives are portable, but not internal drives. Put all your PT sessions and audio files on the 2nd drive. Keep the system drive as clean of audio as possible and only store applications on it as much as possible.
