Default xpand 2 and other plug ins not available

The plugins that come with pro tools first are not available in a midi track or instrument track. I tried using third party plugins before realizing they do not work in first. any suggestions on how get xpand 2 or any other free plug ins to work?

Hey there,

Assuming that your plugins download from the Avid Store are not corrupted...

Xpand2! and other Pro Tools First compatible plugins from Avid Store will work after you do a Pro Tools First cleanup. They will show up after it.

Follow these steps for Pro Tools First/Pro Tools (it works for both) and for your current OS:

Good luck.

I turned off the firewall and that allowed me access to avid. however I can't seem to download xpand 2. I keep getting a popup that says it will donwload and it never does. there is a refresh button I have tried as well. I even downloaded xpand separately and threw it in the plugin folder which did not work. I'll shut down the mac tonight and see if the restart helps. I have not had this much trouble since i stopped using windows. thanks for the help.

Default errors when trying to open pro tools and downloading plugins.

Hello, I get an error on startup with a blank window. If i exit that and sign in through chrome to my avid account it allows me to open first. after that the marketplace is an error and if exit out of protools turn on firewall and off again and reopen first I get into the marketplace. then I try to download xpand or any plugin from the site and it never starts. I click refresh and nothing. I have tried reinstalling. any suggestions?

Hey there,

Just a some idea here,

- Disabled your anti-virus and turn firewall off.
- ProTools on Windows OS hard drive.
- Add Avid.com to be a secure website in your internet browsers.
- Check your router to make sure you are not limited on ports.

I don't think it is an Avid issues, so you might not be able to create a ticket and get support from them.

Good luck!

Hi
I did everything as described but, I cannot find/open the Xpand2 within ProTools First
Where should I look? There is nothing in the Marketplace/plugins box and I can't find it in AudioSuite

Thanks

Phil

Xpand2 is a virtual instrument (VI), so you won't see it in the AudioSuite menu (that's for plug-ins that process your clips, not real-time effects or instruments). If you downloaded/installed Xpand2 from the MarketPlace in Pro Tools First you should find it in the Instrument section of an insert on your tracks (try an Instrument Track which handles MIDI and a VI). See the info starting on pg 17 in the Pro Tools First guide for more info.
