I have a question on How you save and run your sessions
ok i'm wondering when you use your external hard drives, i'm looking to get a thunderbolt drive either 7200 rpm or a ssd do you save the entire session on the drive, like do you open your drive and click the session from your drive or do you keep the session on your desktop or wherever you keep it on your actual computer and then just have the session save all of your data to the external hard drive with your disk allocation or does it not matter, and if this is a stupid question i'm sorry for looking like a complete idiot but it is a question i've always wondered hope it wasn't too confusing

Re: I have a question on How you save and run your sessions
Yes, save the entire session to the drive. Then save it to an additional back up drive in case there is a drive failure. It's not a good practice to run sessions from the desktop, or the system drive in general.

Re: I have a question on How you save and run your sessions
Thank you so much for your reply thats the way i had been doing it a very long time ago, like 3 or 4 years ago I took a little break from recording and having equipment but even back then I had that question, thank you, you totally made me understand better, do you or anyone else have an idea on what the best drive to use? maybe a ssd thunderbolt or a firewire one, I know I've read that usb to stay away from even usb 3.0 just wondering because I don't want to know this information now and get something that is not beneficial to me so thank you very much

Re: I have a question on How you save and run your sessions
also it's not best practice to open sessions by clicking on them
best practice is to open PT then use the Open Session command or the Open Recent option spinner, WD Black drive SSD, Samsung 840 or 850, Pro over EVO but EVO is OK
