Default Mac + Win with one drive

Hey all
I know its possible to use just one FW drive and go back and forth bewteen Mac and PC (i do regular backups ... so no finger wagging ) . I have tryed to format my FW drive a Fat32 but when I go to the Workspace (on the Mac) and try to set it as a record drive I get the "not a recordable audio drive" message.

What am I doing wrong here? or does anyone have a step by step? I know I'll need Macdrive on the PCs and thats ok. Currently I'm using whats listed in my sig. FW drive is an OWC 911 case with Western Digital 120gig/8mb.

thanks

You can't use a non-native formatted drive on either platform for recording or playback - only for transfer.

I prefer formatting the drives as HFS and using MacDrive5 from MediaFour under XP to support reading the Mac formatted drive.

Thanks for the info. I have been doing transfers from PC(FW) to Mac(internal) using the fat32 FW drive, then back to the FW drive for use on the PC. Its been working well and theres no need for Macdrive.

Just looking for a way to save the transfer time
thanks much.
