plugin GUI slow sometimes (waves c6)
hi!
I noticed that on some consoles the c6 behaves faster (talking about graphic user interface response only - not about sound!!) why is that? older graphic chips on older main boards or are profile main boards faster then sc48 main boards? lack of ram? My sc48 has a slow response for the c6, while touring without my sc48 i noticed on a profile yesterday that it had the same GUI performance as it has on protools. would like to know why and if i could change this. thanks! |

Re: plugin GUI slow sometimes (waves c6)
I have seen slow plugin gui response as a result of minimal DSP, on a Mix Rack, and I have seen desks with (unsupported) SSD system drives that loaded the plugin rack with astonishing speed, but beyond that I'm not certain.

Re: plugin GUI slow sometimes (waves c6)
Incidentally, I experienced this today. At a festival, converted my file to work on an SC48, had to turn off quite a few plugins to fit in the limited DSP, and in the end I was using over 90% of every chip on the desk, and found as you reported that the C6 gui was comically slow.

Re: plugin GUI slow sometimes (waves c6)
obviously it is not an issue with the DSPs or a "clean" system.. as i did a full system restore, installed waves 9 as the only plugin and loaded up just one C6 and it was slow as well.
BUT: it turned out my sc48 has only 1GB ram! i guess this might be the issue as avid says: 2 x 200-pin SODIMM sockets support dual-channel DDR2 533/667 SDRAM up to 2GB (recommended for sc48) but i do not get if this is 2GB for the whole system or 2GB for each RAM bar (which would give a total of 4GB for the whole system..) Are there any specs on what manufactures RAM to get for sc48s? |
