HDX Hybrid Mode : can you mix Native and DSP plugins on one channel ?

Q : can you have HDX DSP plugins together with native plugins on one channel ?

Used to be able to do this in earlier versions of PT but now in 2021.6 I can't anymore ;-(

It doesn't work like that anymore.

You switch into DSP channel mode to track and any plugins that can switch will switch, any that cannot will be bypassed.

If you don't want to work that way then disable Hybrid mode.

They should add a playback only-"DSP Hybrid" mode though, to be able to utilize the HDX for mixer on part of tracks while still using native plugins like before... As so few plugins have DSP versions available.

Or is the roundtripping back and forth to the card actually more CPU intensive than just using the Native mixer on all tracks...?

At least this should allow native plugins on audio tracks before the audio stream hits the mixer (like before), but preferably also native plugins on auxes/routing folders that these tracks feed into (with roundtripping and latency added of course).

Yes. You can still do this by disabling Hybrid mode.

THanks to Barry Rudolph there is a workaround. If you use a physical input on an aux channel and then bus it to and actual audio channel, you can record thru native plugins and at 44.1 with a 256 buffer the audio is 2 samples late, which I can live with..for now...lol
