Default Static when nothing playing

So I just got finished with a mix and noticed that there is now a loud fuzzy static noise when nothing is playing.

I tried to pinpoint the source and found my guitar buss seemed to be it. The track has a few heavily distorted guitars so I'm using a few compressors in sync to control them and this seems to be accenting the static, when I remove them it reduces the noise to the point it's barely noticeable.

I've tried messing around with the sample rate and buffer size but nothing seems to be working.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Hi friend !

By any chance do you have a Universal Audio 224 lexicon in the session ?

If no what plugins in the session then ?

Hi thanks for the reply.

I'm not running the lexicon but I am running several other UAD plug ins, such as:
Neve 88RS
LA-2A
33609

And I'm using a couple of other reverbs and delays, do you think it could be a rogue plugin?

Will try deleting and re-adding them all and see if it helps!

Ok i've asked cause some plugins generate noise like the 224 ( wich you can turn off btw ). Maybe making inactive one by one can help to find if any of them is causing the noise .

Put a gate at the top of that track as the first insert

Sample rate & buffer changes won't help. I'm going to guess the guitars used were single coils. What were you using to get the distorted sound? Pedals or s/w? Anything following single coil pickups that has a significant amount of gain will cause the things you're hearing. Those compressors aren't helping things either as you've found out.

Thanks for the help guys, worked out it was the Waves H-Delay plugin causing it in the end! All resolved
