Default Digimax 96 Wordclock VS. Digi 0001

Hello,
I am in the process of setting up a small home studio and have acquired a Digimax 96. I was reading a few posts on this forum that suggest that the word clock on the Digi 001 is a little jittery. Does anyone know from personal use of from another source that the 96's clock is bettre/worse?

any input/feedback is greatly appreciated.

I've been using it as my "master clock" but really haven't heard any major difference. I just bought the Lucid 9624 converters (arriving any day now) and will compare to what I've been hearing lately.

So, to answer your question, you probably won't hear much of a difference, but marginal is better than none! So, I'll continue to clock to it until my Lucid's arrive.

Hey mark,

please let us know how the lucid/digimax combo works out for you...I'm wondering how to use the Lucid with my RNP/RNC for drum overheads and then using a digimaxLt for the rest of the kit..how would you run those two converters togather? setups? any possible clock jitters, etc.?

thanks

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Well, just had the opportunity to do some tracking with the Digimax 96 (light pipe) and an Aphex 107 going into the Lucid A/D connecting to the Digi via S/PDIF. I don't have the master clock, so at first I wasn't sure how this would work. I am clocking my system from the Lucid A/D but when I wanted to use the Digimax, I switched the Lucid to external, made sure that the sample rate was correct on the Digimax and it became the master. Didn't have to change anything in PT (S/PDIF) stayed the clocking source. No "perceptible" jitter and things went VERY well.

Eventually, I want to get a high end clock, but this will suffice until I can get some bills paid for and I've got some mic pre's I need to buy first.

Hope this is helpful
