Default MIDI Trouble

Hello,

This is my first time posting in a forum, so forgive me if I've posted in the wrong area and what-not. Probably also important that I point out how new I am to Pro Tools and audio gear in general.

I recently bought a Profire 2626 as well as a Axiom 49 MIDI controller and I've had a lot of difficulty connecting the two.

At this point, I have my Axiom 49 being powered via USB from my computer, while a MIDI cable is connected from my MIDI Out on my controller to (what I've been told) is the MIDI In on the Profire. (The greyer of the two MIDI connectors)

From there I can't seems to get a signal on Pro Tools.

Am I missing some sort of important step?

Please help!

Thanks,

You do not need the MIDI cable from the axiom to the profire. The USB connection will allow your operating system on your computer (Mac or PC?) to see the axiom and Pro Tools will communicate with any MIDI device recognized by your OS.
