Download a program called Find Any File. Use it to search your Macintosh HD for any file that has either the word Avid or Digidesign in its name and delete the found files.

I'm pretty sure there are more than a few files to delete that do not have those words included in the file name … stock digi RTAS (.dpm) plugins and some divi hardware drivers installed by default in a PT8 install for example?

And a Pro Tools 8 installation won't have files including the word 'Avid' anyway, since although Avid owned Digidesign they didn't start using Avid branding on Pro Tools until V9.

Did you manage to uninstall Pro Tools 8? The uninstaller doesn't work on my OS X 10.10.5 and I would like to uninstall it manually too.

Far easier to erase hard drive and re-install OSX

Especially if you saved an image of the drive last time you did a clean install.
