7.1 I'm getting Crackling in my mics record enabl

I just upgraded to Pro Tools 7.1 on my NEW Duo core Dell E1705 lab top and I'm getting crackling from my mics once I have recored enabled on a mono audio channel..

Can somebody tell me what's going on? The lab top is loaded to the brink with power so I know I'm not lacking in that department..

do you have external converters/clock and forgot to sync PT correctly under hardware setup?

Have you tried going into the playback engine and trying a few different settings? Even though it's a dual core processor try setting it to one processor to see what happens. Raise the buffers, lower the buffers but check after each change you make to figure out what's your problem.

I'm having the same problem since I upgraded from 7 to 7.1. It is very frustrating, but I found I can increase the playback buffer size to eliminate it.
