Default PTF bounces

I'm having very frequent crashes when I do bounces with PTF. The error message tells me to increase buffer size but I'm at max already. It seems to happen only on longer tracks (2-3 minutes are usually OK, more is almost always a problem). My comptuter DOES use a VIA chipset. It's a P-III-800 made up of first class components. Everything else works fine, so it's quite frustrating not to be able to put my work to CD.
Can anyone help?

Disable Virtual Mem, Defarg HD, disable any hardware not being used during bounce: Modems, NIC, USB Devices and I/F, anything...
Close any anti-virus or other program that use CPU sometimes, check the DMA Enabled & uncheck the CD Autoplay/Insert Notification.
For further help search the entire DUC for H/W Buffer Size.

I found that bounce to disk placed the most demands on the system so it is vital that everything else is switched off.

I even need to close the edit window!Presumeably closing the mix window would also help?

Curiously though, it only works if I set the buffer to zero???

Also, if you are converting ( I have a sblive! so have to convert from 48 to 44.1), then make sure you set up a master track and use dither.

Hope some of this works,

Sweave

Thanks Rock_Artist. I have tried all of those, except virtual memory. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks SWEAVE. I have everything off but virtual memory (suggestion by Rock_Artist). I will try closing the windows and setting H/W buffer to 0. Keep you posted
