Default Digi 003 crashes !!!

Hello all

My pro Tools worked really great for many years !! But I don't know why, my system crash all the time from one week !!

Here is my system :

Macbook 13" - Intel Core 2 Duo 2Ghz - 4GB Ram
Internal HD : Seagate Momentus 7200 Rpm 320 Gb 16mo
External HD (for the sessions & record) : Western Digital My Book 1 TB 7200 RPM
Audio Interface : Digi 003 Factory
System : Max Os 10.5.8
Soft : Pro Tools LE 8.0.3 cs2

The Digi 003 goes on offline mode & the pro tools freezes. I can work with Pro Tools and after 2, 5 or 10 min, the system crashes... I didn't make changes on my system... I was on Pro Tools 8.0.1 before the problem, so I update to 8.0.3 cs2 & the same happened.

I'll try with another macbook pro 15" with 4 gb ram.... REsult : The same error !!!

Please help me, I dont know what to do !!! The system crashes even if I just do playback !!! In fact, I can try anything (playback, record, plugin in RTAS or AS...) : The Digi 003 crashes after a period, and the pro tools freezes. I need to do a force quit, reboot my digi 003 & relaunch protools... After a period, same scenario.. So I can't work !!!

Thanks to you for your help

Try a different firewire cable. For some strange reason, they go bad without any physical damage sometimes.

Do you have any 3rd party plugins or virtual instruments? There may be a compatibility problem causing issues with the 003. I know it sounds strange but incompatible plugins have been known to cause connection problems between Protools and the Digi002/003 interfaces in the past.

Finally try deleting databases and preferences per the instructions in the "General Troubleshooting" thread at the top of this forum. there are additionl tips to try there.

Ok thanks for the answer. I'll try with another Firewire cable, even if my cable seems to be ok !

I use some Vsti (Native Instruments) for long time. I don't update it recently.. Idem for the plug.

I'll check too the preference files.

I give you a return as soon as I test

Thanks

Hi all

Always the same problem.

I change my firewire cable, reset & update the firmware on my 003. I update protools on version 8.0.4, & I delete the preferences, database & following the instruction of general troubleshooting... My 003 still goes to offline mode randomly & the protools freezes...

I test too using my 003 with the same session on logic Studio : My soundcard goes to offline too...

Last thing : I need to check my plugin version but, I test the Digi 003 on another macbook pro with no third plug, & the same thing happened...

I think my soundcard is maybe broken...

If somebody has another idea, it will be really great

Peace

Have you tried reducing the number of processors dedicated to RTAS in the playback engine, or any of the other optimizations from the General Troubleshooting thread?

Are you getting specific errors and, if so, what are the error numbers?

Yeah. My best setup for several month was One processor & 256 or 512 in buffer...

I don't have any error message because, when the 003 goes offline, protools freezes & quits... After I have the message The Software needs to quits and the choice : Report, Ignore or relaunch...

But no protools message with -xxx errors...

have you some ideas ? ?

Just for info : Today I just record one voice (Pro Tools opens with One mono track).

I'm done to do the record, I do a consolidate on my track... When I want to save.. 003 goes offline mode & Pro Tools crash...

It was 1 hour ago...
