Default Summit audio 2BA - 221 pre.....

Any one using this? It looks like a nice pre for under $600. Adiing the Summit audio tla-50 seems it would be a nice set up for vocals. Thinking of picking one up real soon..... Just looking for some insight on this.
Thanks

I have one and I love it. I use it for vocals with either a SM58 or a KSM44, and the ability to dial in the tube warmth is great. Also excellent as a front end for either my bass or electric guitar or piezo on my acoustic -- they're great and worth it. Don't have the compressor as I use plugins, but I've heard good things about it as well.

I used one in a pro studio once with an NTK mic and a Soundelux U99. Sounded killer with the Soundelux. I compared it to alot of other big name Pres also and it was the best one with the Soundelux U99 period.

They are awesome. I use mine ot only to mic my cabinet, D.I. for Basses and vocals, but also I send my Pod XT Pro thru it too. Haggle with Geetar Center or SamAsh man. I got mine for $489.00 Brand New at Sam Ash.

I have 1 and I use it for Vox, Bass, and Guitar in to Amp Farm, Sans Amp or Amplitube.
I have the TLA-50 too, it's a great combo. I also have a Vintech X73i Neve clone.
A lot of times the 2BA-221/TLA-50 combo wins out over the X73i/TLA-50 combo.
It just depends on the source. It can get a little tubby in the low/low mids.
But you can High pass some of that or EQ it or adjust the mic impedance.
It's really pretty flexible.

It's a great little pre. Of coarse I'm probable biased.
Just my 2cents

KC
