Hi M2E,

is this the next level of music ?
Why does all R&B music has to sound the same nowadays ?
Do all R&B artists only have a vocabulary about the size of a 'post-it' sticker ?
There must be more topics to write about !?
Is it true that R&B artists - even when they aren't singing - talk about "boooties", "biitches" and "how big these things are" all the time ?
Do all R&B artists need Auto-Tune ?
Why are R&B artists so religious ? Because they are lying so much !?
I'm wondering at what point during an R&B production does an R&B artists or his producer decide to copy as many ideas from other artists as possible ?!

I'm sorry but this can't be the next level of music. Other artists have stepped up to this level many many years ago.

I have to agree with Detlef. This sounds like a thousand other artists. While it's sonically decend, it's not "stand out". Definately not next level...

I worked on A LOT of R&B in the 90's in NYC and this actually sounds a lot like the R&B being done from about '90 - '95. Definately not the "Next Level".

The biggest thing I notice is that there doesn't seem to be any real direction to the songs. It's basically a simple and non-impactful theme repeated a bunch with some non-focused improv going on.

I only had time to download/listen to one song: "I Can Make U Dance". I too, believe there is really nothing unique about the direction the group is taking production wise. The production is very well done, but like other popular R&B artist presently, it's more about image than talent. The song I heard as-is could generate some heat on the R&B charts, but never be on top unless you have a major feature artist. Other than that, the group sound like they're off to a good start with good production, good engineering, and good talent. However, I would change their name, anything with "Next" or "New" in the name tends to last a short time.

Good Luck

sounds great! great engineering and producing!
sounds professional. good hooks and instrumentation / vox arrangments. excellent singing. some great beats.
i prefer songs/lyrics that are a little more mature(?), like SEAL or Esthero maybe, but that's just me. that's not really the same type music either.
keep making more music!

Definitely good work. Excellent production and engineering.
I was afraid I would be offended by "I Can Make You Dance" but it had a nice balance of interpolation/influence and I could tell some thought went in to it so as to not disrespect the late, great Roger. (I have a hard time thinking anyone is worthy of retooling his work - even Teddy, and there is such a fine line between influence and retooling. )
Very pop-R&B sounding, not that that is necessarily a bad thing.
My 13 year-old likes the tracks, FWIW - and that is probably closer to your target market than all of us here anyways
