Default Pro Tools Freezes on Start Up

Whenever I start up Pro Tools it will freeze on the loading screen. Sometimes it will load but I get the following error message:

Could not complete your request because Assertion in "\code\azuki_Cliff\AlturaPorts\NewFileLiss\Sys\Sys _Socket.W
line 144

When it does load I get really poor system performance.

Any ideas?

Have you followed the troubleshooting and optimizing guide exactly?

http://duc.digidesign.com/showflat.p...part=1#1103324

It could be a thousand things, try listing your setup, computer configuration, and a Sandra report. Try this link too -

Good luck.

I don't know about that specific message. However, I've had a couple of bouts where PT would just freeze on start-up. Most recently this was solved by deleting all my preferences, which are usually found in C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Digidesign. You can just move the prefs file out of that directory to see if it works. There wasn't any real way to determine what the issue was, and no way to fix it without getting into PT. It doesn't really matter though, as prefs are easy to recreate by hand.

You might want to try the MAC section of this forum... not many windows users are going to have solutions for the MAC.
