Default Inexpensive controller option - Command|8 & iPad2

I just wanted to highlight a very inexpensive path to (almost) controller Nirvana.

Couple a Command|8 (350$ CDN on CL) and an iPAD2 (200$ CND on CL) with Pro Tools Control for a relatively inexpensive way to get 16 faders ( 2 x 8 independent blocks) and access to all the buttons that are missing on the Command|8 (e.g. automation) by using the Eucon support in Pro Tools Control on the iPad.

Obvious to many I am sure, but just in case...

Does that actually work?

I thought Eucon wouldn't work with other control surfaces, or is that only a conflict with Ethernet (Command | 8 being setup under MIDI controllers, so may not be a problem)?

So far it works great.

The Command|8 is USB and a midi controller, the iPad Control is Eucon and shows up under Ethernet controllers. Both controllers work and are fully independent. Pairing the two makes a very effective poor man's DAW controller. My DAW stays offline so I set up a local wifi network with my PC.

Configuration: 3770K PC O/C 4.5Ghz, Asus P8Z77 MB, 512 G SSD, 16 G Ram, Motu 1248 + Motu 8Pre, Win10 Pro, Pro Tools 12.7, Waves Gold, Kontakt Komplete 10.

Same with the HUI based setups.

I keep a wired iPad up and stopped using an older 8 fader Mackie/Emagic unit.

Works well.

Cool, I will check that out - I have a Command | 8.

I'm certain there was a conflict with Eucon, but it must have been with Icon/D-Command???
