I do this using SoundFlow. So fast and easy. There was a script for it doing the reverse so I just changed it for me. Works like a charm.

Thanks Fidelis, I tried installing and using SoundFlow months ago, but I found it a bit too complex, so I uninstalled it and never tried it again. Also because I always use very simple functions in PT, nothing complicated. I just didn't find it useful in my case. I don't know if it's worth trying again just for this feature I need. I would rather be able to do this with the Pro Tools feature if possible. Thanks anyway.

Yeah, I'm always getting sessions to mix with the tracks in ALL CAPS - this makes them hard to read on a control surface. I fix them with Keyboard Maestro - it has functions for manipulating case: Uppercase, Uppercase first, Title case, Lower case. I just built a little macro that steps through the number of tracks you specify and changes them all to Title case. i can post it if you'd like though it's very simple.

I'm pretty certain that there's no way to do with with the built-in Batch Rename, but like Rich said, it's pretty easy to do with Keyboard Maestro.

Thanks guys,

I'm trying to modernize my approach and the first results are very encouraging.

I installed Keyboard Maestro trial and Elgato StreamDeck (software) and started doing the first tests with simple commands. A new world opened up to me. I've found several tutorials and am baffled by all that can be done.

I still have no idea how I can program the function I wanted to achieve in Pro Tools, i.e. changing all the names of the selected tracks to lowercase, maybe in some time I will succeed if in the meantime Rich (thank you so much) had a minute to post the macro that would be great, it might be useful to others too.

Thanks again

FWIW, here's the macro, you need to have opened the first track to the track name dialog before running the script. No doubt it could be more elegant, but threw it together quick and it does what I need:

Hey Rich, thanks so much. Yes it took me a long time to download it, but in the end it was worth it.

After a few minutes of understanding I managed to import it and make it work, customizing it with different commands and functions.

I would never have been able to create it, at least for now. But now I've decided to delve into this approach because it's becoming very useful for me, in many things that before I felt like a robot doing, whereas now I can make a macro do them by pressing a button! great stuff

thanks again
