Default Sessions and plugins

I know I'm coming with stuff about another age, sorry.
I'm running a ProTools Mix (ProTools 5.1) with 1 MixCore, 2 MixFarms and 2 DSPFarms in a Magma expansion chassis (7 slots).
One of the DSPFarms burnt down this week-end. Now, some of my sessions can't open anymore. It gives a big red window with an error (I forgot to write down the exact error message).
Is there a way to force ProTools to deactivate all plugins when launching the session?
Would it be an option to lauch the sessions into ProTools 6LE and resave it (all plugins will be deactivated)?

Can anybody help me with this issue? I really need to open these sessions.

Thanks.
Nicolas

did you take the bad card out because the sessions should still be opening but with those plugs disabled.

i can't remember of you can do this in 5.1 -- it is probably a 6 thing...

but, when you import session data, there is a way to select what you are importing. and you can NOT select to import plug-in assignments. so, you can just import the tracks with the audio and no plugs.

but look into your import dialogue to see if 5 offers this...i suspect not.

why can't you import them though? usually, when i open stuff on my LE rig form the HD room, it just tells me that thos plugs are no longer avilable.

did you trash all your prefs and dae and digi inits reboot, rebuild your desktop reboot and then open PT?

You should be able to open the sessions on LE systems, the plugins will be present, but niot activated. You can take off plugins and save it in an older (5 and earlier) format.

I don't know why I can't open the sessions. The bad card is out. What terrifies me is this red window with the error message in it. Remeber windows in MacOS9? They use to be grey. It's red in this case, refering to some DSP... I'll write down that message next time I try these sessions.

I'll aslo try to trash prefs and rebuild desktop. It's strange that these seeions don't work, and others work perfectly. They just disable some plugins because of insufficient DSPs.

Thanks for your answers. I'll bring more infos later.

that session seems seriously effed.

can you import tracks one at a time?

try that. save as you go. 'til you get to the bad one.

Here's what I did:
I copied the sessions onto my G4 laptop and opened them with ProToolsLE (OSX).
I had reports about the fact that plugins would be disabled. The session opened correctly.
I saved the session, copied it back to my ProToolsTDM system and opened the session correctly.

Thanks to all. I saved my sessions.

However, when I tried to reactivate the plugins, everything when fine until suddenly (as I activated a pluging I'm used to use), I got the same red window. Strange. I don't really understand where it comes from...

Is the offending plugin one that would share a chip or claim a free one?
Can you activate that plugin first without getting the message?
Have you done a DigiTest to see which card has the error?
Have you tried to allocate the faulty chip so no plugins go there?

I have removed the card that has a problem, it's no longer in the system.
I can activate any plugin without any problem as long as ProTools doesn't have to reallocate the plugins to find a free DSP.
Last time I run DigiTest (after I removed the bad card), all cards passed all tests.
How is it possible to allocate a faulty chip? Is it possible to ask ProTools never to use a particular chip? I know that on the bad card it was DSP 1.
