Thanks for the link. French? I need a bit of help.

"Fonctionnera avec Windows dès la sortie de Pro Tools 6.1"

I think this means it will function only with 6.1 in Windows? Looks like pretty much the same as the 002, just rack mount and without the control surface. Will be interesting to see what the list price will be.

I ran the link through some translation software - this is what it said (sorry, it's not perfect, but you should get the idea):
----
Conceived while thinking at the same time of the recording and live for the musicians, Digi 002 Rack combines the Firewire connection with numerical, analogical inputs/outputs and MIDI in order to propose a cheap offer and of quality.

One single FireWire/IEEE-1394 cable connects Digi 002 Rack to a PC or compatible Mac *, and proposes to 36 simultaneous channels of numerical data (18 channels of E/S), of data MIDI (16 tracks of entrée/32 of exit), as well as the software Pro Tools to carry out your productions.

All the analogical and numerical audio equipment connects directly in Digi 002 Rack, thus eliminating the need for an independent mixor. The same FireWire interface can be connected with portable computers, allowing Digi 002 Rack to function in any environment.

With its connector industry FireWire, its ergonomic and neat design, and its many functionalities, this "studio out of box" will answer all the requirements of production.

Functionalities:

• 8 discrete numerical entries (4 préamplis mic/line/instrument, phantom food séléctionnable on two channels.)
• Entry alternative source for audio equipment of monitoring -10 dBV (readers cassettes, readers CD...) connected directly to the exits monitor.
• 8 digital displays, all symetriques/asymetric, as well as a symetrique/asymetric exit monitor separate also. • Converters 24-bit/96kHz
• > 108 dB Dynamic Arranges; > 98 dB (0.002%) THD+N
• Exit monitor, with an adjustment of dedicated volume.
• Exit helmet with an adjustment of dedicated volume.
• 8 channels of optical inputs/outputs ADAT.
• 2 channels of inputs/outputs S/PDIF.
• MIDDAY E/S -1 port entered, 2 ports left (16 channels in, 32 channels out).
• Footswitch Entry for ordering of the QuickPunch recording

ew, don't tell me the phantom power switches are ON THE BACK. >_<. [that's what it looks like from the pic].

question; with regards to latency, aren't PCI cards still better than firewire?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Well - I like the phantom food available on two channels - no more late night runs to the curry house - just switch on the phantom food! - I'm a bit more concerned about the exit helmet though...

more interesting would be a new "only-8-channel-micpre" with FW in this design, which could be connected direct to Digi002 and be buyed in a new package included the Digi002 + several Plugz for at least not more than 3500 $... you know what i mean?... then i would shurely run for it....

sorry that bad english/ hopefully anyone got my suggestions...

another, much better standalonemixer+controller which would be more flexible:

DIDIDESIGN!?!?.....: please impliment/support this controller+standalonemixer to get me more enhancement, flexibility and at least real good mic pre´s!!!!!!
