Default Upgrading from MBox Original

I have updated to SnowLeopard on my MacBook Pro, and now have to upgrade to the Protools 8.0.3 software, making my MBox original obsolete. What interface is suggested? Also, is there a discount on purchasing a new MBox because the old one is now made unusable? I need an interface with line outputs (TRS) for my speakers, and 2 mic inputs for recording - similar as possible to MBox original.

Thank you, Amy

Default Re: Upgrading from MBox Original

You have a couple conflicting things going on:

First of all, PT is not yet qualified to work with Snow Leopard.

Second, 8.0.1 is the most recent update, not 8.0.3. I think you may be thinking of 8.0cs3 which is actually prior to 8.0.1.

8.0.1 will actually support the original Mbox, but it is the last version that will do so. So you could upgrade to 8.0.1 and work with that for a while without having to buy a new interface yet.

As far as I know, there are no Mbox to Mbox2 hardware exchange deals yet. But since the announcement of end of support for the Mbox, I wouldn't be surprised if they make something like that available. It might be until they actually have enough people complaining that updates no longer support the mbox, but since they have not yet released a version that does not, there probably is not too much pressure yet..

OOps. Correction, I didn't see the news about the 8.0.3 pre-release... Ignore that part
