Snow leopard not supporting PPC does NOT mean PT can't! Digital Performer 6 and 7 works on Tiger, Leopard and Snow Leopard. Probably for an upgrade or two much major software will continue to offer backwards compatibility with Leopard at least.

So digi CAN do it, but appears to choose not to, in some degree of disregard for their user base.


In any case, digi should at Least fix the remaining bugs in PT8 in a cs release. But they really would lose less of their user base if they support PPC for an upgrade version or two.

Does anyone elses Structure appear all yellow and messed up when loaded in the SL PT8.0.3 update?

It's completely unusable - hopefully digi sort this soon...

Is the latest version of Digital Performer officially approved to work on Tiger? What "works" and what's "approved" aren't always the same thing. I imagine most of us are using some piece of software that's working in a way that's not officially supported. So 8.0.3 may work.

However, the legacy port issue is not a grey area. We've heard from Digi that ProTools doesn't even acknowledge that port.

I'm hoping this decision will be reversed until The Next Big Thing is released... THEN it would be perfectly okay to not support MIX hardware anymore.
