Re: Budget USB interface for 5.1 monitoring
That's interesting to hear. I have certainly read some positive comments about Behringer more recently.
I had completely forgotten that many years ago, I bought a Behringer ADA8000/Ultragain Pro-8. Having an RME Digiface USB, I've now tried using the Behringer to convert the ADAT o/p of the Digiface to discreet analogue o/ps using the Behringer, and it seems to work well. I can also use the RME ARC to control Totalmix and the output monitoring levels. Reading original reviews of the Behringer, it seems that any adverse comment was directed more towards the mic pres rather than the D/A convertors. At least this would seem to be a temporary solution.

Re: Budget USB interface for 5.1 monitoring
Does "great" in US.english mean same as "not crappy" in UK.english?
Midas preamps do not have a sound. They are like Oxford, as transparent as can be.

Re: Budget USB interface for 5.1 monitoring
Ha! "Great" in the context of the thread's title - meaning "great/budget". You want great? Get a Neve, or a ... bla bla bla ...

The only ones I know for sure that offer a multi-channel monitoring (max 7.1 monitoring) are the m-audio's firewire410, profire 610, profire 2626 |
