PT Does N0t Open Properly Sometimes

Hey guys,

Wishing all of you the best of good health and success in 2023.
I sometimes have problems opening PT sessions by double-clicking session icons. It seems to happen randomly, because the same session may open now, but not another time. Opening PT and then loading the session works. In the 20+ years that I've used PT, I've never had this problem till recently.
Suspecting plugins, I've done my best with the tedious process of removing all plugins and reintroducing them one by one. I was able to identify a couple of old plugins that I don't even use anymore and remove them. But the problem still persists. I've uninstalled and re-installed PT.
Avid should get rid of this difficult, time-consuming, pre-historic troubleshooting method and list problematic plugins at the onset, the way other DAWs do it. Industry-standard indeed. Can anyone offer any help?

I’m not sure what the problem could be, but have either of you opened a case with Avid? This seems like something they should know about and can probably fix.

Also agree that moving plug-ins around until you find the offender is not a great method.

Maybe Jeff D. can do that. I've let my update/support plan expire.

For quite some time now, the recommended procedure is to open Pro Tools, then go to File>Open session(as opposed to double-clicking the session icon).

Thanks, Dave. That's good to know. I didn't know that was the recommended procedure. Somehow, I'd always succeeded in getting away with opening sessions from the session icon, so it seemed strange that 2022.12 wasn't doing that consistently.
