Default 002 will not record midi notes sent from my mpc?

I went through step by step reading the 002 (manual/protools guide book) and performed all of the input/output midi settings required to record the midi/drum notes sent from my mpc2000xl into the protools 002 mixing console. I can hear the drum notes in my headphones connected to the 002 mixing board as I play them from the mpc, but the notes don't register on the midi track when I hit record.
Can someone please give me some suggestions on what may be the cause of this?

I am having the same problem. I have both my Motif and MPC sync'd up properly using Midi but the MPC will not record any notes, nor do I see any levels on the velocity meter. 002 console has "midi in" led lit.
I have an audio track and a midi track both armed for recording. Only audio is recorded during the sync. My pro tools triggers the MPC.

How do I record the notes into the editor?

I have not had access to my Pro Tools gear for about a month now, but these would be my suggestions off the top of my head.

Make sure the input to the MIDI channel is set to "ALL", I think.
Try turning Low Latency Monitoring off, and see what that does.
Of course, make sure to record enable the MIDI track.

Input to MIDI is set to ALL,

Low latency monitoring is not a factor,

and MIDI track is record armed.

None of those things work. I know the MIDI devices are set up correctly because I am able to sync. I've played with different options with midi beat clock and trying different channels. Nothing works

In the MIDI menu, make sure that 'MIDI Thru' is enabled.

This should solve the problem.
