Question for windows users-SOLVED
Has anyone managed to get audio from Windows(think youtube) routed into Pro Tools? I want to record little snips of audio to learn solos but nothing I do results in audio showing up on an audio track

Re: Question for windows users
Yes, you can do this pretty easily.
First, open MBox Control, drop down the Loopback tab on the top of the screen and check the box for Loopback Enable. After you enable the feature, change your Windows audio so that the YouTube audio will play out to Output 7-8 (Avid MBox Studio) Now open Pro Tools, create a stereo audio track and set the input to ADAT 7-8. Record enable the track and you will be able to record the audio coming from YouTube or any other audio that is playing to the main Windows output. |

Re: Question for windows users
Hey Will, thanks for that! The only odd bit(easily fixed) is that Windows defaults to Mbox 1&2, and that still passes audio even after changing Windows to use 7&8 and if both paths are live, they create a short slap. Of course, muting(or turning down 1&2) solves this. Guessing the PT buffer is the cause with 2 active paths. Funny that I looked for Loopback and somehow missed it until your advice

Re: Question for windows users
The previous version of Box Control that went along with the 3rd gen allowed you to save configurations, does the current one not do that?
If so just create a config with the muting and routing that you load into the Console when needed and load your normal one as usual when working normally.

Re: Question for windows users
Well, Its supposed to come up as it was last configured, but(for me anyway) it is not. For now, I'll have one of the 4 user buttons call up my usual preset(its just a shame I need the extra step, on top of having to power the unit each time I power up the system)

Re: Question for windows users
Hmmm, things have gotten..........er..........interesting?! after3daysof cursing and head scratching, today, the Mbox came up in the correct config without my intervention. Good thing as the idea of setting a button to recall the basic preset failed(preset buttons have been reset to defaults and choosing any other option does not stick)
