D-Command Auto Write section maps incorrectly!
So, since upgrading to ProTools 8.0.1 a few weeks back, we were having trouble with the "All Enab" button in the Auto Write section of our D-Command. Further analysis showed me that all the keys were mapped incorrectly. Even further investigation led me to the D-Command ES, whose Auto Write section buttons are DIFFERENT! Great! So, now I have a D-Command Blue, with ES functionality. Not too helpful actually.
Is there any way to continue using 8.0.1 and still downgrade my firmware to work with the original D-Command (which I'm sure many people still have)? Digi, please send us some new firmware or fix this ASAP. Sure, we're using Command+Option+/ at the moment, but those ICON key functions were insanely helpful on many different levels. Thanks. chris. |

Re: D-Command Auto Write section maps incorrectly!
If you registered your D Command, you should have been sent a new Lexan overlay for the blue one as the functions of the buttons have changed. (for the better IMO)
Call Digi and have them send it to you and you'll be all set. |

Re: D-Command Auto Write section maps incorrectly!
Hi Chris,
The Layout for the Auto Write to switches changed - as Drew indicates. The new layout is : All Start End Punch Next A phone call to tech support should solve your problem. You will receive a new lexan overlay which is easily fitted on top of the current one. Chris

Re: D-Command Auto Write section maps incorrectly!
Hey guys. Thanks for the update! I have two D-Commands and a good pal is the East Coast ICON rep, and still somehow no one notified me. I love when it takes the in-session headaches to get to the bottom of things. Much appreciated!

Re: D-Command Auto Write section maps incorrectly!
Hey Chris, also just curious as to why it was changed. In Post, we use that "All Enabled" function all the time, and from the new mapping, it seems like it has been completely wiped. I've obviously added it to my User screen, but it's inefficient now for me and is still confusing to have to jump back to my User screen constantly. Any idea why it was nixxed so quickly? My guess is there's no way to revert to another firmware that will allow those buttons to work as they used to. I'd love some info if you have any.

Re: D-Command Auto Write section maps incorrectly!
Hi Strang,
The Write to all button, the most used button for mixing IMHO, is now top and centre of that section rather than second row left. Make it easier to find for most folks. Also, on a DCommand you wont have a dedicated button for preview mode, so I always map preview and write to all in the user section when mixing and leave it there. I find its easier to use the flexible user section to put things closer together than reaching up towards the top of the console. Your call - just a different way of approaching it. I go through it on my blog in the preferences video. Hope thats useful. |
