After a quick test I've discovered that Duende does in fact have latency.

At 48K it measures 11 samples. By comparison, the Click plugin has 9. So if you're playing to a click you'll be behind by 2 samples. That's 1/24,000th of a second.

I stand corrected.

I should also report that latency is being correctly reported for all Duende plugs and ADC compensates perfectly.

The birth of this latency side project came from someone's claim that Waves had an advantage due to lower latency. I believe this puts the lid on that issue. Isn't there a Waves plugin with over 3,000 samples of latency?

Hi,

zero phase is the answer!

Don't forget the 1000's of UAD plugins users (including myself) who use wrapped UAD plugins all day long with no issues. and SSL Duende hardware versions were also wrapped and had no issues with the wrapper.

The wrapper does not add any latency.

All SSL Duende Native plugs have zero latency except Drumstrip and VocalStrip which have in the region of 200 samples.

So does the wrapped plugs use more processing than non-wrapped? The last time I tried the wrapper it seems like even small EQs used a large amount of horsepower. After a few tries I just did not see where it was worth it.

So, what's your opnion on the X-Verb? Most interested in this one. I was waiting for the RTAS version of LX480, but its taking soooooo long!

Conversely, you could have read my post just above which included:

"At 48K it measures 11 samples"

which illustrates that they are not "zero" but incredibly low nonetheless.

X-Verb and his 480 verb are actually similar in many ways, or at least the essential sonic character. Honestly, I don't know that I have a favorite. Probably X-Comp for the fact that it's more versatile and I strongly prefer its interface.

But yes, it's a GREAT sounding reverb. It could stand alone in your reverb folder and your mixes could still sound excellent and diverse.

Hi,

I've done plenty of checking any you can have 2 identical tracks! one with SSL plugins (not drumstrip or vocalstrip as i said these 2 have some latency) and there's no phasing what so ever. and they will null 100%

I'm checking it now with 3 ssl plugs on one track and none on the second track.

Try it and see what you find.

So again, these sound BETTER than their Waves counterparts? In what way?
