Default Useful new device for MacBook Retina/Mac Mini user

I just wanted show an IMO pretty interesting, cool device especially for the use
with the new Retina MacBooks and Mac Minis.
I saw this as I searched things for another thread but this seems to me worth
to mention it in an extra thread indeed.

Have a look at this.

basic version

pro version

This is a docking unit to be connected via Thunderbolt to your computer and
then have spread your Thunderbolt signal,
to add FW800 to e.g. the new MacBooks,
to connect HDMI, DVI, VGA, MiniDisplayPort monitors,
to connect USB 3/SATA/eSATA devices to it
and even to add a DVD/Blu-Ray optical drive to computers
which do not come with something like that anymore
(as the new MBPs and Mac Minis e.g.).

Finally it offers the option to install 1-2 3.5 HDs or 2.5 SSDs within the unit.
All connected via 1 Thunderbolt cable.

This is rad IMO!
Theoretically there is all included one may need in one box.

And you could extend your options by a tremendous amount as this
box uses just 1 Thunderbolt port of the computer which keeps
all the other connections available too.

As I understand it they will release it in summer 2014 and if it will
work as advertised this is gonna be some really nice, useful piece of gear!

Btw it starts at $399.- (with a standard DVD optical drive included) and
obviously can be preordered already.

I think I´m gonna start saving money right now...

All the best everybody,

cheers, VRW

Default Re: Useful new device for MacBook Retina/Mac Mini user

Thanks for the heads up
Certainly fills a gap. I wished they had brought it out a lot earlier though.
I,ll be waiting to see what the new Mac Mini looks like.
