seperate output for solo
Hello
I wonder if it is possible to use soloing in Pro Tools the same way as you do in a live-sound mixer: where pressing "solo" on a track will not interrupt the signal flow, it will just send the "solo" signal to the solo output. In Pro Tools, however, pressing "solo" will mute all the other tracks.. Is there a way to make soloing in Pro Tools function more like a live-sound mixer? |

Re: seperate output for solo
A couple of things to look at. In the IO setup, there is an option to change the default monitor path. Then, using aux sends to outputs for headphone feeds would leave the main outs for mix but solo would over ride that(like solo in place on a live desk). Knowing what your interface is might offer more options

Re: seperate output for solo
You can also use Solo Safe on certain tracks so that they won't be muted when another track is soloed.

Re: seperate output for solo
Thanks.. I have pro tools 10 with CPTK upgrade.
Computer is both PC and mac, with RME Madi soundcards. After doing some research it seems that the HD/CPTK function PFL-listen will solve most issues.. With this I can make a seperate output for the solo signal. Will this work? I ask this question because we are planning to use Pro Tools to mix live-streaming events, either from our studio or concert-halls, and I dont want the solo to interrupt the stream. |

Re: seperate output for solo
What about just a aux bus and muted sends from each track? Then when you want to solo something you command-click on the track's send to unmute it. The sends can even be independant of fader, plugins and pan if you want. You can flip the pre/post button.
