I agree with you and use Cedar the same way, I also use RX for audio suite processing, and I do my best NOT to buy Waves:) I am really looking forward to the new CEDAR plugs especially the limiter.

I did a very hard job recently with Izotope RX advance standalone application and it was better than doing it in ProTools.

Also see this tip about RX.

But most of the time, when working with Izotope RX, the simplest way to remove background noise is to ask my kid to go play in another room...
