Default Can\'t stop the dreaded -9136 on my Original Mbox

Hi all, my 002R is on the shop being serviced so i was hoping to rely on my trusty Mbox to see me through, sadly it's not. It keeps buffering out, more so when it hit's VI's. Just re-pressing play resumes playback temporarily until the next -9136. If i change a patch in sampletank or structure LE i also get the -9136 and i'm not changing during playback.

This is so frustrating my system is optimixed as per the tips thread, bluetooth/wi-fi, reinstall v22 firmware etc. i'm recording/playing from my FW drive and whatsmore these sessions aren't even hitting %40 on my CPU meter.

Any Suggestions

Ps: I've even put the stock 1GB ram back in and still no joy.

Macbook 2.16/iMac 2GHZ C2D
2GB Ram
OSX 10.4.11
OWC FW Drive

Have you tried different USB ports on the computer?

Are there any applications running in the background? What do you have in your list of startup items? Are you possibly using this with a hub? Processor performance is definitely at 'highest'?

Hi' i'm now getting this on my iMac and my Macbook both are C2D machines, i'm using the correct USB port on the Macbook, the machines insist on -9136 erroring everytime i launch a new session and also when i'm changing VI patches, not too mention just plain random errors for no apparent reason. I'm not using any hubs of any kind.

The only new additions to my system in the last month have been GPO using Kontakt Player 2.2.4 and Hybrid, i've tried removing these from the plugs folder, trasing prefs and rebooting and i've got nowhere. Really difficult to troubleshoot especially as it happens on both machines.

Cheers

I wish I could offer some suggestions, but as I've experienced very similar problems with my original Mbox, I'm afraid I can only offer consolation. These days I mostly use it for mixing audio tracks only, and occasionally for recording vocals in my upstairs "vocal booth" (that would be the attic -- the quietest room in my house). In this context, the Mbox works fabulously for me. I am able to mix small to medium sized sessions with modest amounts of plugins without problems.

The few occasions where I've tried to use it to track virtual instruments, however, I've had nothing but headaches. That very same error you speak of would crop up so often, that maintaining any kind of creative workflow was impossible. I do think it may be Intel related, as I get more errors on my iMac 2.16 Core2Duo than on my PPC machines. Strange.

The only two things I can think of that MAY be of help are these: one, check your USB cable. Use either the original cable that came with the Mbox, or an even better one. And two, I tend to get the LEAST number of errors when I leave the Mbox buffer at 512, and use only 1 processor on the iMac.

I think my happiest times with the original Mbox were with OS 9. Never had any problems with it. Ah, those were the days....

Hi Stiefel, thanks for the info.

I'm inclined to agree with you about the intel thing. Projects for me have been fairly minimal since switching to the intel platform and it's now that i really starting to push my sessions with VI's etc. that the cracks are really starting to show.

I have to be honest i'm really close to throwing the entire digi kit and going m-powered with the new profire 2626 and a transit for mobile mixing. I need a fix for this like yesterday and if i could pin this down to the Digi hardware specifically and not the software i would drop it like a bomb. My 002R is in the shop now and it's being returned with a no fault found for similar reasons to the mbox. I'm really struggling here.

Cheers

Just out of curiousity - your profile shows that you're on 7.4 HD, but is that the case for LE as well?

The reason I ask - there was a fix for Intel Mac for 9136 errors in Pro Tools LE 7.3.1cs4, so I wanted to make sure you were on at least that version or higher.
