Default seperate video drive?

hello,

I am currently running a small sound design set up. Do I need a seperate video drive to play back clients videos? or should i keep the video files on my audio drive with my protools sessions?

Mbox 2
PT LE 7
Dv toolkit 2
Command 8
Lacie 250GB External drive for Protools Sessions
250GB Internal hard drive for sound design & music library

Definitely a separate drive and most reliably a separate buss.

For instance in a simple setup I use FW drives for audio and stream my video off of an internal ATA drive. Or vice versa.

Looking at your setup you might want to have a second internal drive, or at least partition the one so that your system is separate from media.

I run my video off my audio drive with no problem. But I do commercial post and rarely have anything longer than 60 seconds or more than 16 tracks. I did do a 30 minute film with about 32 tracks with no problems. If you have long videos and high track counts, go for it. if not, you'll be fine.

I run video off a second internal and audio off a firewire 400 drive. This configuration works good for me.
