No DIGI devices use WDM. They have ASIO and WaveDriver. You will have to uninstall PT, then install WaveDriver. It should work from this point. If you're golden, then you should be able to install PT 6.1.1 or higher and things should still work correctly.

I've already done that several times but additionally, pro tools has absolutely nothing to do with the wave driver. It clearly states on their website that the wave driver can be installed without having pro tools installed. Same with the ASIO driver.

By the way,

You guys saying that Digi doesn't provide WDM drivers are wrong. WDM stands for windows driver model and without a WDM driver model, you would be unable to use the 002 as a windows media player.

In fact, the name of the wave file driver is dalWDM.sys !

WRONG! Only Pro Tools 6.1.1 and later can even coexist with the wave driver - view the download page documentation.

If you upgraded to 6.1.1 or better, you have to remove the wave driver, then unistall PT, then reinstall PT, then upgrade to 6.1.1 or 6.4, THEN install the wave driver. All should work at that point. This is all spelled out in Digi documentation.

Not entirely correct, but correct in a strictly technical sense. Common usage refers to WDM specifically as a very low latency Windows driver that Digidesign does not provide. Digidesign uses ASIO. Windows media player does not use WDM as defined in a professional audio application.

No, the website clearly says you can install just the wave and ASIO drivers. Here's a direct quote from the site:

"The Digidesign WaveDriver v6.1.1 can also be installed as standalone if no version of Pro Tools is installed."

That is exactly how I installed that. When that didn't work, I installed the complete 6.1.1 LE CD including drivers. When that didn't work, I installed the 6.4 update including drivers. I've uninstalled and reinstalled everything several times including booting into safe mode and manually removing all digi* drivers according to http://answerbase.digidesign.com/detail.cfm?DID=6209

I then reinstalled the wave drivers and that didn't work either.

I've never had any pro tools earlier than 6.1.1 so I'm not sure what your comment is there.

Am I speaking french?

Have you followed my steps in your other thread for reinstalling Pro Tools.

Can you run a Sandra Report and email it to me in HTML format zipped.
