Default PT 7.4cs 3memory leak

Hi All,
PT definitely has memory issues on windows. I only notice this on big sessions. Hour long progams and over. PT will eat up memory until their is no more left. Then you can't save the session and PT closes. I know PT uses more memory then it needs because if you drag and drop and audio file from the desktop, PT will release all extra memory. So if I open a session, total system memory usage is around 900 mb. After mixing for a couple of hours, memory usage goes up to 1.4 gigs. I drop an audio file into pt from the desktop and system usage goes down to around 1 gig. If I forget to drop an audio file into pt, memroy isage keeps going up to around 1.62 gigs and pt crashed with and access violation and session will never open again. I have to go to the session file backups. DIGI please fix this ASAP. I have two hour long series right now.
Best,
Brandon

maybe not directly related but, i seem to feel there is some sort of memory problem going on myself. i'm running hd on a windows machine. my problem has more to do with opening VI's. lets hope digi can address ,fix these problems. on my intel q6600 i have no cpu related problems. the meter seems to always be in the 30 and under area. most of the time, alot less. seems like a ram problem.

if i'm working in a session( most of the seesions i'm working on are over 100 tracks ) for more than an hour and try to open NI's Massive or Kontakt, i will get a protools could not allocate enough memory error. the plug in will not open. i have to shut down the session and exit protools.when i immidiatly open protools and the same session, i am now able to open the plug in that gave me a problem 5 minutes before.

Given that I use an allegedly QUALIFIED pc (Hp Xw8400) and im totally pc savvy , I still find protools and pc's black magic :_)

It seems to me that even if ALL rules are followed , some strange behaviour still occurs at times.

I would be grateful for a digi comment on the memory issue though .

Hi All,
Just a small update. I removed speakerphone from my plug ins folder and this problem seems to have gone away. I'm mixing all day today and will update you guys on how it went at the end of the day.
Best,
Brandon

Hi x9blade,
Sorry to say, it's not speakerphone. This is a very annoying problem. The thing that really sucks is that PT has had this problem in the past. You'd think they would learn. PT version 6.7 had this exact problem. Not sure if the source of the problem is the same. Does anyone know if 7.3.1 exhibits this? As soon as I get a couple of days off in a row, I'll install a couple different versions of PT and see if it's a 7 version specific thing.
Best,
Brandon

Hi All,
This just gets stranger and stranger. Today I found a session or some config that doesn't exhibit this problem. What I did was open the task manager and put it slightly on the video window. This was a mistake. I usually have the task manager open to check the memory usage so I don't crash. Today/last night I sloppily moved the task manager window a little on top of the video window and worked for like 8 hours with tools never using more then 900 mb. I hope this helps someone.
Best,
Brandon
