Default So, is everybody lovin their macpro\'s or what?

Just checkin in. I'm thinking about a move to MACPRO and HD. How is the performance?
Seems like a rocking computer, spec-wise, but how is it in day to day use?
Looking for reliability and the ability to mix at 96k using necessary plugins for pop-R&B tracks.
Any traps?
Thanks.

Mac Pro Rules.
I wish I could say the same for Protools.
Have to downgrade to 7.2, loosing time, because of sync issues ect. ( having problems with machine control and sync).
Anyway Mace is cool

2.6 running PT 7.2.1 here - fast, smooth, solid, dependable.

Crazy fast machine. I don't wait for it - in fact, I occasionally have to catch up.

Yes indeed!

3.0 running PT 7.3.1 - Extremely fast. Replaced my dual 2.0 G5. So fast that I got a 2 macbooks to replace my g4 macbooks, a intel mac mini to replace it's previous model and 2.0 intel imac. All systems running beautifully (except using rewire in PT...that always crashes.)

Everyday I have to open one of my drives , and say " calculate all sizes" with the "all drives" clicked.
Id doesn't remember that I want to see calculated sizes.
Is this just me?

7.3.1 running here. It's the most performant system I've had in YEARS. In fact ... It's responsiveness, stability smoothness reminds me of the late OS 9.2 days with a mix system. But then with all of todays features and sound improvements.

Since 7.3.1 I have to agree, - really stable and fast, - ooh, - HD3 on a 2.6 MacPro 7gb. ram and 4 drives..

Hmmmm.... Not as stable as all the other comments indicate. I've had a number of crashes, usually during automation edits, and sacrificed a number of burnt offerings in thanks to the Gods of automatic backup. That said, I came to the Mac Pro after giving up a year and a half struggle to try to make my Sweetwater "Creation Station" (single processor rack-mount model) work for me. Working on that system was like having my feet tied together, so having the ropes cut was very very satisfying. Now I'm doing jumping jacks and wondering what to do with my Damnation Station.

System profile:
OS X (10.4.8)
3.0 GHz Mac Pro
5 GB RAM
HD/Accel/Expansion|HD
PT 7.3.1
