Default PT7 Upgrade Oddities (really!)

Regrettably, I learned a lot so far with this. In hindsight I made it too hard, but first my questions.

WavesPT7Update1.exe can't find any Waves products installed. I sure do have Waves products installed. I have two drives, and I even tried running the program from both drives - no go. The Waves stuff is listed in Add/Remove programs, and it's in the PT plugin selections. ???

And, I got that entry point error for a while. I mistakenly checked all the boxes on install. I uninstalled and reinstalled w/o the DVtoolkit and translator and Command 8. That error vanished.

I also got the Waves IR1 under WUP and installed that. It appears I'll need an iLok to make it run. Can anyone confirm? It doesn't show up in the PT plugs list.

And Hypertransport is not the same as hyperthreading. I've got the k8v se MOBO and that became apparent too.

I deleted DAE prefs, ALL databases, and the user profile digi folder. I guess the one thing I didn't do (and I can't believe this now as I write it) was do all this as Admin.

I'm holding off on doing the Firmware update until I'm sure I'll have no need to roll back. I set a restore point with the XP OS before I started.

Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Greg

hmm, if you do the firmware update do you get an error after loading 6.x systems and trying to boot?

No, I've not gone back to 6.4. I want this to work. I'm just ignoring the prompt to update the firmware for PT7. I guess if you had to you could install the firmware from the 6.4 CD.

My big concern is that the Waves PT7 updater thought no Waves stuff was installed. I've sent a note to Waves, but I just discovered from searching on "Waveshell" on the C drive brings up a lot of stuff.

The Waveshell-DAE 5.0 files are extension dpm, dll, and rsr, all dated 5/02 and 10/04. Only the folders have newer dates.

Does anyone with a successful Waves Gold update have these file names and timestamps?

Download the Updater from Waves again, I think they have updated the Updater .
If it doesn't work, there's a link to an updated 5.0.3 Waveshell in the Waves Forum (PC).
This Waveshell will load the Gold Bundle correctly.

Best Regards,
John

Thank you Rammelt! That was it! Same file name, different sizes. The bad one is 2.4mb, and the good one is 2.0mb. My God, how much can a name change cost?

I'm not sure I wanted to update the Waves stuff - I went from two instances of RenVerb to being able to run a session with TEN instances. Just like an 80's ballad... Hope the big number holds up after the update.

Now if I can get the "space bar won't play" under control... Just got that bug. Lot's of theories, not a lot of solutions.

I feel your pain with the play button not working until you press it appoximately 1000 times in a row....

I have NO clue why Digi Support has ignored this issue as I'm not the only person with this issue!

I reinstalled PT7 but it just seems to happen over time.
