Re: Recommend an Analog Channel Strip
MsDSP's Analog Channel is my choice for that when it comes to software.
I route everythong through buses, gits-keys-drums and so on and I have it as the first plug on all these buses. I group the plug-in controls and suddenly I can change from one desk to another (or bypassing) with one click. If I push the channels harder it behaves a lot like an analog desk would do. They also are a communicating company!! They answer questions for real, usually within a day or two!! I asked them what was the models for Analog Channel and got this answer: * Analog Channel AC1 - console emulation - I made some presets called Console 1, 2, 3 - basically from Neve pre's like the 1272. Note the larger than needed 'saturation region' in the comp/sat curve, yet a less than stellar attack (a 'good' circuit would have a immediate attack). So there is some play in the sat region. AC2 - tape emulation - playback heads are: USA-A - Ampex MM12000 at 16 and 24 tracks (working on an ATR 102 currently) USA-M - MCI free interpretation on my part - had some MCI measurements but needed more, so I made something that sounded good and also like an MCI (the good parts of an MCI mind you) Swiss - Studer A80 and A80 mkII. Japan-S - Sony APR 5000 and similiar models Japan-T - Tascam (hey they were eventually bought by a Japan firm) ATR60. As with the MCI, I took the good stuff from it, and removed the bad (look at the measurements in the AC manual of an ATR 60!). Japan-O - Otari MX 80, MX 5050. Actually the playback head is very close to an Ampex ATR 102, which is why I did not include an ATR 102 in the final version of Analog Channel. The AC2 tape emulation also includes two tape formulations - modern is your GP9 or similair onctemporary tape - lots of dynamic range, small saturation region, little distortion; vintage is a cross between Ampex 406 and 456 (more the later) - less dynamic range, larger saturation region, more distortion.

Re: Recommend an Analog Channel Strip
Would any of the new Waves plug ins actually come close to hardware?
I know that Waves now do almost all classic hardware in plug in form, and I see reviews and youtube videos of A/B tests saying that these are very very close to the originals from old school producers/engineers and the original valve outboard makers.. Are these a real alternative and give that analog sound to mixing ITB? |

Re: Recommend an Analog Channel Strip
The CLA compressors are one of if not the only plugin I'd possibly mistake for hardware.
