Default Is anyone using new Acid 3.0 with Digi 001?

I'm trying but I keep getting an error message when I try to play the timeline. It says, "An error occurred while starting playback. The device specified is in use." I can preview the loops in the loops explorer just fine it only happens when I try to play the song. I don't have any other programs running and Acid 2.0 has always worked fine. Anyone know what this problem may be? Also, all my windows system sounds are shut off. Thanks for any help,

Tony

check your settings in Audio Options/preferences in ACID. It could be a simple DIGI card setting you're overseeing.
I've been using 3.0 for 2 weeks, I love it.

FYI:
If you're not using a 'legit' version, be aware that ACID is notorious for having bad 'cracks' out there. They will lock-up your PC, freeze, give you some malfunction dialog box in the middle of playback, etc. Oh yes, it happened to my neighbor, who swears he will never install another piece of 'cracked' software on his machine.

Likewise, no more cracks for me. Save a little, wait a little, but do it right.

pk_hat,

Thanks. I have a fully registered version I just got from Sonic Foundry so I'm clear there. I checked my settings in Acid and I have it set up under Windows Classic Driver and then the box underneath that I have Digi 001 1and2 selected. Would you mind telling me what your settings are? That way I could just match them on my system and that would probibly tell me if that is the problem or not. Also, there seems to be little black squigly boxes over some of the buttons like the play looped and some of the envolope buttons at the top. Kinda goofy don't know what that is. Thanks for your help!

Sometimes this helps. Open PT LE and check off Active in background under one of the menus. I can not remember which one now and I am not home. However, it could under hardware or operations...

Hi again,

Acid requires DirectX8. Is this not problematic for you? I am scared to install it that is why I have to use it in my win2000 partition. Because, eventhough there are some utilities to uninstall DX8, I am scared that they will not work. Any ideas?

Thanks for the suggestion Yavuzj. I tried that and it doesn't seem to be the problem. Thanks for you help.

Yavuzj,

I'm running Winodow 98 SE and I think I will check my Direct X version and maybe even re install that and see if it fixes anything. Will let you know! Thanks.

I was not suggesting that you should play with your DX settings. If I were you I would not since these are very sensitive and you may have to reinstall windows. I do not think at all that your problem is related to DX. I simplu wanted to get info from you about how DX8 worked for you. Acid 3.0 will not install without DX8. I know that because I do not have DX8 and it asked to upgrade an I said NO. So think twice before you make any change about that. Your solution sounds a lot simpler than that. You might have to use another (may be a cheap SBLive) soundcard for ACID. You wan to import it into PT LE at the end anyhow.

Good luck and proceed with caution.

Yavuzj,

Yeah, that wasn't the problem. I've been running DX8 since I got Sound Fordge 5.0. I have not had any problems at all. Although I am running Win98SE and not NT or 2000. I don't know if that has anything to do with it. My PT LE has always ran great and that didn't change when I installed DX8. It's just goofy because Acid 2 worked fine and so does my Sound Fordge 5.0. Do you think I need to completely uninstall Acid 2.0? I'm going to shoot off an email to Sonic Foundry I just wanted to ask here first because I'm sure I won't get an answer from them for a while. Thanks for your help,

Tony
