Default HD Omni reviewed in Sound On Sound

The new 25th Anniversary edition of Sound on Sound is on the website, but you need a subscription to read the article, and it's not in stores yet, but should be within a week or two. And it has the first professional magazine review of the Omni, finally. I'm looking forward to it.

You can buy a PDF version of the article, laid out just like in the magazine but with no ads, for 1.49 Pounds.

Expensive when you figure the whole mag is probably less than 6 bucks, but I was impulsive. It's a good, long, in-depth review.

It's 1.50 to download, I just did...

They did make a good point that as an all in one control room helper, it's a shame there was no talkback on it.

Biggest thing wrong with the Omni is no remote though, to me..

Well, let's hope that "remote" input on the back of the unit will find it's purpose in the very near future. And let's hope it doesn't become like the footswitch jack on the old Mbox 2 Pro, which to my knowledge never became functional.

I agree, the lack of a remote is the biggest thing I'm missing on mine. With some of the functionality, a remote that enable and disable downmixing, mute, alt channel path etc, would be killer.

I'd also love it to mute and solo individual channels, have a headphone jack...

If enough of us voice an interest, maybe Avid will make one.

Haha! I love your optimism.
Maybe they'll sort out the ADC bug too, heh.

IIRC there was a fix released (7.x).
