I'm also now back to 12.8.1 with no issues opening sessions saved with 12.8.2 as far as I can tell (so far). GUI lag on mix window totally gone. Worth going back to 12.8.1 for that reason alone (for me anyway).

+1

Went straight from 12.4 to 12.8.2, no good, but 12.8.1 seems fine

Default Downgrading to the 12.8.1

Thinking of downgrading to the 12.8.1 due to the gui lag issue, I'm wondering if I need to reinstall the hd driver with the 12.8.1 as well. I did a fresh sierra and pthd 12.8.2 installation with the 12.8.2 hd driver.

no.

The HD Driver code rarely changes. So most times it's not needed to change it.

I always update it for the full number releases and sometimes even the .x ones. But rarely if ever for x.x releases.

If people are rolling back, Avid have to really look closely at how diverse the Beta team really are!

A load of guys with the latest computers is not what is should be!

Guess 13 and new hardware is next.

Where did you hear about this update? Let's hope so but I'm a little skeptical it'll be out in a few days as they just released a video pointing out all of the "game changing" enhancements to Pro Tools in 2017

Humm they forgot to include the biggest game changer, introducing GUI lag causing many to change their GAME back to 12.8.1 or lower

I would love to see what midi chords I am playing but I guess I am lucky because I am lazy and haven't updated yet and I hate reverting
