Stupid Question-transport issue
Ok, I know this is stupid, but honestly, I can't find anything out about this in the manuals.
So, I simply want to record a track. On all other control surfaces I've used with ProTools, simply hit Record/Play simultaneously, bam, the track is recording. Not so, at least for me on the D-Command. If I hit Record/Play simultaneously, it only Plays. If I hit Record, then hit play, it plays only. If I hit Record, then computer keyboard space bar, it records as it should. Why doesn't it go into record mode simply hitting Record/Play simultaneously? Shouldn't I be able to record without using the computer keyboard? Remember, I said this was a stupid question......

Re: Stupid Question
Record input enabled?
Mine works as it should Record enable Play record Recording Maybe it's a preference thing? I setup my prefs on the console and in PT like Brent Heber shows you on the videos

Re: Stupid Question
On the D-control (and I'm assuming the D-command) the transport is setup like the transport remote of an analog console like an ssl 4k.
If you've never used an old school console or 2 inch tape machine it is confusing for protools users. To record you can't press play and record at the same time. You have to press play to start transport then press the record button only to go into record. And only the record button again to exit record. While transport is running. Just like a studer tape machine. Also if you press record first the rec light will blink. Then when you press play it goes right into record from start of insertion point. Re: Stupid Question
Which recording mode are you using? With Normal you press record, then play. With Quickpunch, my personal favorite, it doesn't matter.
If none of this works I'd trash PT preferences. I've had it happen once or twice in 8 years that I couldn't initiate recording from the console, and trashing prefs fixed it.

Re: Stupid Question-transport issue
It might be a bug.
I know with my D-Control and PT 10.3.8 (I think) there is a bug that doesn't allow me to record using the transport with a particular setting relating to timeline. Pathetic really that such a rudimentary function is vulnerable to a bug. Thankfully with the D-Control I can still use the QWERTY to transport. |

Re: Stupid Question-transport issue
No issues here on C24 or D-Command - works as expected.
