PT8 HD playback issue

Has anyone experienced this?:

During listening to playback, the audio will not stop. Playback and 'tape head' just continue to roll forward or loop (if in loop mode) and will not stop either by hitting the space bar or the transport controls within the window. Very annoying and gets to where it is impossible to work.
Computer is a Mac Pro.

You might have to upgrade to the latest version of Snow Leopard...

It seems to be intermittent. The longer I work within the song, the more likely it is to seem to happen.

I posted in "Pro Tools" and then later saw the "Mac OS" channel. I didn't know which one to use.
