Error - Pro Tools Needs to install Helper Tool

Not sure when this began, but its happening to my current and older version of Pro Tools.


I updated to latest Ventura 13.3.1 .


I have tried to delete PreferencePrivledge setting to no avail.


Any idea what can be causing this?

fixed it by following these and adding into terminal

The odds of seeing that issue after updating to Ventura are very small. I've updated a few machines to Ventura and it's been nothing but smooth.

Hi all, sorry an old thread - I'm having the same issue, and following these steps hasn't worked for me so far.



I notice in the instructions it says "launch Pro Tools" twice however, with no mention of quitting Pro Tools prior to launching the second time. Is someone able to advise me on what I may be missing here?


I'm using an M2 Macbook pro, PT 2023.6, Ventura 13.4.1 - as per Avid Compatibility Chart.

Maybe worth a try.

1. Open your system drive (Mac HD), then open Library.
2. Open the PrivilegedHelperTools folder, then delete all com.avid files.
3. Relaunch Pro Tools, then enter your password.
