Default Pro Tools 2018.1 - Video Engine failing to load (Windows 10)

Hi all,

Updated to 2018.1 but immediately had problems with the video engine failing to load, resulting in PT freezing & not functioning correctly.

(We're running Windows 10 with dual Xeon processors & more than enough RAM etc.)

Has anyone else had such problems since updating to 2018.1?

We had to roll back to 12.8.3 via safe mode.
We have read one suggestion elsewhere to do a complete uninstall of PT and clean install, however this is completely unpractical for us as we are a busy commerciail studio and unable to put aside 2+ full days to reinstall every single bit of software and plugins etc, and even then run the risk of it still not being successful.

Has anyone got any other suggestions or advice?

Many thanks in advance!

Goto control panel in windows and remove only Pro Tools (not drivers etc).
Now install Pro Tools again.
This is a windows-installer issue!!!

Default Re: Pro Tools 2018.1 - Video Engine failing to load (Windows 10)

Thanks Mandal.

Would this method leave all our third party software (i.e. Waves, iZotope, IK Multimedia etc) intact and therefore would automatically load in 2018.1, or would this uninstall & reinstall method mean we would have to reinstall all of this software again??

We have read elsewhere that someone else with a Mac has also run into this problem, so maybe it's not solely a Windows problem..?
