Default LATENCY ISSUES WITH 7.3.1

JUST UPGRADED TO 7.3.1 AND AM NOW HAVING ISSUES WITH LATENCY. I AM RUNNING AN IMAC G5, 1.8 GHZ, AND 1 GIG OF RAM.
THIS DID NOT SEEM TO BE AN ISSUE WITH 6.9.2. I HAVE ADDED SOME NEW PLUG-INS AND STRUCTURE AS WELL. I WAS ONLY RECORDING ONE TRACK FROM A RECORDED MIDI TRACK AND IT WAS OFF AT LEAST 2 BEATS. NO OTHER INSERTS OR PLUGINS WERE BEING USED AT THE TIME. WOULD MORE RAM HELP OUT OR SHOULD I TRACK EVERYTHING IN 6.9.2 AND MIX IN 7.3.1? I KNOW SOME OF YOU ARE SMARTER THAN ME WHEN IT COMES TO THIS KIND OF STUFF SO PLEASE HELP!! THANKS.

PT7 is definitely more CPU intensive and you're RAM is on the low side. That said, I'd be surprised if a 1.8 G5 could not handle the situation you describe. Have you got any Midi track offset or Real Time Properties selected which might cause this delay? Check in the event menu.

BTW I take it that you know that the region can be 'nudged' back to compensate.

THANKS FOR THE RESPONSE. I CHECKED MY EVENT LIST AND NOTHING THERE TO REPORT. A NO ON THE MIDI SET-BACK ALSO. I SHOULD HAVE STATED THAT I HAD UPGRADED TO OS 10.4.11. THIS MIGHT ALSO BE CAUSING A PROBLEM. I WILL TRY TO GO BACK TO 10.4.9 AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS. I AM ALSO GOING TO ADD ANOTHER GIG OF RAM. ( IT CAN'T HURT ).
ANY OTHER IDEAS OUT THERE????? THANKS KRAFT.
