> Please help with PT 'playback engine' settings
I'm struggling to get the right combination of settings in Pro Tools. I also can't seem to find a very detailed description of how to go about figuring out the optimal settings for my system. Hopefully someone can help.
Here's what I'm dealing with: • Pro Tools HD 8 (8.0.4) • Two expanded 192's (24 in, 24 out) • HD Core card, 2 HD Process cards (connected via Magma expansion chassis) • OS X 10.6.6 • Processor: 2 x 3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon • Memory: 16 GB 667 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM Here's a screenshot of the current settings: http://postimage.org/image/1v2ehxgis/ I just want to make sure I have the correct settings to get the most out of the system. Thanks. |

Re: > Please help with PT 'playback engine' settings
looks good as default settings, only ignore errors during playback check off.

Additionally, I’d maximize the amount of RAM allocated to PT, by following the steps detailed in the first post on this thread…

Re: > Please help with PT 'playback engine' settings
I set RTAS processors to 5 (out of 8) and 512 samples latency.
4 DSP´s for 128 voices.

Re: > Please help with PT 'playback engine' settings
If you're using HEAT, which I know that the OP isn't with 8.0, you're most likely gonna have to max the voices to 192 as HEAT eats 'em up. These days I'm at 192 all of the time along with juggling resources such as RTAS vs TDM and de-activating unneeded aux's etc. just to get through a mix. This is on a system with five cards in a PE6R4.
