Unhappy Mbox 2 Mini and PT8.0.5 failure to communicate?

I just recently upgraded to Win 8 Pro x64 and reinstalled PT8 on it. (I know, I know, not Avid certified, but bear with me). Upon installation, I noticed the following issues:

-No input or output appears to travel to or from the Mbox 2 Mini in Pro Tools, though I can still direct monitor whatever's plugged in via the front panel controls.
-As an undocumented feature, it is possible to use the Mbox as a Windows audio device (say, for practicing along to a song on YouTube while using PT as a glorified amp/processor)—I cannot replicate that feature anymore. The audio panel indicates when I test the outputs that it's sending an audio signal, but I hear nothing out of my monitoring equipment.

Help?

Angry Re: Mbox 2 Mini and PT8.0.5 failure to communicate?

New info—the non-communication issue was resolved by unplugging and re-plugging, but now I have a even WORSE problem: in either playback or record modes, I get continuous glitch noise (like a bad DAC). It goes away whenever I change the H/W buffer size, but keeps coming back. Hardware fault or what?

EUREKA. I actually hope this post gets made into a sticky, since new laptop users may find it a problem.

The horrible DAC glitching appears to be caused by my laptop's Intel Turbo Boost (SpeedStep) feature. Since LE relies on the host processor for processing the audio streams, a fluctuating CPU clock causes the DACs to lose sync and get all *blah*. Disabling this feature helps resolve the glitching, but I think there's a way to eat the cake and have it. I'll keep at it, but if anyone has any ideas...

Pretty sure disabling SpeedStep has been a recommended tweak for a long time Might be worth checking for core parking too(just search youtube). Turns out my quad rig had 2 cores parked...
