Changing Vi Multiout via Track presets
Hi Everybody
Maybe this is a dumb questions but how do I change a VI with multiple outputs via a track preset? I have drumkit from SD3 with multi out and each track in PT has plugins, so its a mixed drum kit, now I would like to change the entire Kit to another one with different processing on each channel. Somehow PT only always changes the first track and not all of the tracks the track preset contains.. What am I doing wrong? any tips how I can do this? |

Re: Changing Vi Multiout via Track presets
If I am understanding the question that you're asking correctly...
You have Auxes set up that are receiving signal from your different SD3 outputs (3/4, 5/6, etc) that give you your "Kick", "Snare", etc channels... (that's how I do it anyway). Each kit in SD3 has it's own internal routing. They were really programmed to be an internal-mixed system. If you load a new kit that doesn't have the same routing as the one you're working with now, you'll need to change the output routing in that kit to match the settings in the first kit. and save the kit that way, so you can recall it again.

Re: Changing Vi Multiout via Track presets
I can recall superior drummer, but I can not recall the auxes with the plugin settings. only the instrument track where sd 3 is inserted will change but not the processing on the auxes..

Re: Changing Vi Multiout via Track presets
If I understand the question properly, let me ask you another one: Within PT, can you configure the drum outputs/auxes/plugins the way you want them? If you can then it's an easy thing to save your configuration as a track preset that you can recall again any time you need it.

Re: Changing Vi Multiout via Track presets
Sure I can save my preset with all the auxes and processing etc.
But I have different presets in superior drummer for different drum kits with different processing on the auxes as well. So I would like to change the entire processing chain with a preset like it is in other DAWs like logic and nuendo. but in pro tools if I try to do this, it only changes the first track in the preset and all the auxes stay the same... |

Quote:
Are you saving closed folder tracks? That is the only situation in which I have experienced something like what you are describing, where only the folder was saved without its member tracks. There is a setting in the track preset gui that enables you to inlude all the member tracks in a folder.

Re: Changing Vi Multiout via Track presets
SD3 has its own internal mixer. Every preset, by default, uses only the single mix output. If you switch presets, you'll need to reset those outputs REGARDLESS OF WHAT DAW YOU ARE USING. It is nothing to do with the DAW, that's all internal to SD3 (and EZ drummer, and most other mulit-out plugins).
In the case of Pro Tools, you can set Auxes or Instrument tracks to receive the additional inputs from SD3 by right clicking the I/O tab on the channel and choosing the output from the Plugin menu. One you're set, you can save all these channels as a Track Preset in PT, and it will come up correctly routed every time. However, if you then change the SD3 preset, you'll need to manually set the right bus outputs within SD3. As you would with any DAW. The only workaround I can think of is to save most used presets in SD3 as multi-out versions. If you then only select from these custom presets, it should all work seamlessly.
